Develop ideas using hand stitch from interpretive marks based on work produced during first part of the day in a brief mark making exercise. A kit of £3 will be provided but students should bring a basic sewing kit.

The last two winters have provided some spectacular images. With layers of sheers, capture a snow shrouded landscape or create a small panel depicting frosted foliage with silk organza and a simple running stitch. A kit will be provided £4.

‘Print & Pull’

Use dyed and coloured canvas as a base for hand stitching with the options of adding leather and / or metallic threads and using goldwork techniques such as ‘or nué’. Your piece could become a small panel, box lid, special card or part of a book cover.

‘Nature’s Inspirational Colours’

Do you have a problem finding the right colour inspiration? Nature has supplied a ready-made palette in the gorgeous array of sympathetic colours you can get from natural dyes. This workshop will show you how to access these colours in the easiest way possible, using extract dyes. You will produce a range of samples for future reference and you can make a small felt panel from naturally dyed fibres or else dye a small array of your own threads and fabrics to take home ready for your next project.
